Spicy Jalapeno Philly Cheese Steak Sliders

This might just be the ultimate game-time snack…..spicyjalapenocheesesteaksliderstwo1

If you are in to game-time snacks and the craziness of March Madness?  Are you?  I’m in to the snacks.  I filled out Brett filled out a bracket for me, and all I can remember is who I he picked to win it.   I’ll join the madness when we are down to the final four teams.  I’m all about the big games when we have a real excuse to get together with friends and eat some delicious game-day food.

And that’s exactly what these Spicy Jalapeno Philly Cheese Steak Sliders are for.

Kraft has a new Philadelphia Spicy Jalapeno Cream Cheese (not on shelves yet!) and I received a few samples to create something tasty with.  Jalapenos + Cream Cheese + March Madness + Hungry Men.  Seriously the four couldn’t be a better combination.  I’ve got one hungry, jalapeno loving husband that was more excited about what I was going to make with this cream cheese than I was.   (Remember-I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to spicy things). The cream cheese alone has some heat but I sat there and ate crackers with it until my mouth was on fire and the container was half empty.  So… I guess it’s pretty dang good.

It was the perfect addition to a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, turned slider, for the perfect game-day grub.  Don’t ya think?  Spicy, cream cheesy beef, topped with sauteed onions and peppers, topped with a slice of provolone cheese.  All stuffed in a tasty little pretzel roll (they are the perfect slider buns!).

Ingredients
  1. 1-1.5 lb beef chuck roast, shaved into thin slices (most grocery store butchers will do this for you)
  2. 2 green bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
  3. 1 large onion, sliced into thin rings
  4. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 12 oz Kraft Philadelphia Spicy Jalapeno Cream Cheese
  6. 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  7. 8 slices provolone cheese
  8. 8 pretzel rolls (or other roll of choice for slider buns)
  9. salt and pepper
  10. 2-3 tbsp butter
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to broil. Slice pretzels rolls in half and lightly butter each side. Arrange on a baking sheet and set aside.
  2. Melt 1 tbsp butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add bell pepper, onion, and garlic and saute until golden and soft. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. Melt another tablespoon (or two) of butter in the pan and add sliced beef (separating slices). Add worcestershire and season with salt and pepper (to taste) and cook until meat is browned and cooked through (about 5 minutes). Stir in jalapeno cream cheese. (You can always add more or less depending on how cheesy you want it). Remove from heat.
  4. Place about 1/4 a cup of meat on the bottom half of each roll. Top with a spoonful of pepper & onion mix. Top with a slice of provolone cheese. Broil in the oven until the provolone is melted and buns are toasted.
Notes
  1. If you can't find the Spicy Jalapeno Cream Cheese, make your own mixing 12 oz. cream cheese with 1-2 tbsp diced jalapeno (making as mild or as spicy as you'd like).
  2. Using finely sliced beef chuck roast makes the meat really tender and perfect for cheese steak sandwiches. Most grocery store butchers will slice it for you, just tell them you're making cheese steak sandwiches with it!

  1. Sounds delicious, will definitely make them for the week-end, thanks for the recipe.

  2. When do you put in the cream cheese?

  3. The recipe sounds great! I didn’t see where the jalapeno cream cheese is used in the recipe. Did I miss it?

  4. Where in the recipe does the jalapeno cream cheese go in, I seem to see it in the ingredients, but the instructions don’t state where it goes in? Thanks for the great recipe, can’t wait to try it out.

    • I forgot to tell you that didn’t I?!? I added it in the instructions, you stir it in once the beef is cooked. Thanks!

  5. I’m drooling. Suddenly my turkey sandwich for lunch no longer looks appetizing. Born and raised in Philly – you make philly girls proud with this Kristy! PS: your photos of these sliders are so pretty!

  6. I love cheesesteak and the addition of the jalapeno cream cheese sounds wonderful!!

  7. Sounds amazing!

  8. OMG this looks good. I want to bury my face in it. YUM!

  9. How are we supposed to make this if the product isn’t available on shelves yet? Lol. Nice recipe but it would be better to wait until people can purchase it. This is just irritating.

    • It’s a sneak peek of the product…hopefully it’ll inspire you to buy it when it is out on shelves and try this recipe out. Also, I noted how to make it if you don’t have the product just using cream cheese and diced jalapenos. It’s super easy!

    • Just found it at our local Lucky’s
      Making these tonight. Can’t wait

  10. SO jealous you got to try this first! I NEED spicy jalapeno cream cheese in my life!!

  11. I love this! The pretzel bun totally caught my eye… then I saw the sauteed peppers and onions… then I saw the jalapeno cream cheese… oh my deliciousness. I need to make this one asap!

  13. Good morning, Kristy! Stopping by to let you know that I featured your Sliders in a blog post this morning, as one of my favorite pins of the week! http://www.chattingoverchocolate.com/2013/05/excitement-and-pins-galore.html …Have a lovely day! :)

  14. I was wondering where you purchased the pretzel rolls at or if you made them and have a recipe? My husband REALLY wants me to make these but I’m having a heck of a time finding those rolls. Thanks in advance!

  15. When do you add the Worcestershire sauce? Sounds delish, thanks!

  16. I can’t wait to try this!! Just came home from grocery store where I asked for a chuck roast to be thinly sliced & told them what I was going to make. I was told that if they sliced it thin enough for this recipe the meat would shred. They suggested that I buy a Ribeye instead (which of course was much more expensive!). Hmmmm…. they sliced it for me anyway but in 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices instead. Hope it still works!!!

  17. MaryAnn says:

These were quite yummy! Our Costco doesn’t carry pretzel rolls anymore but I found some Sister Schubert ones in the freezer at my grocery store that were tasty. Didn’t see where to add the worcestershire sauce so I omitted it and I made my own jalapeño cream cheese as Kristy mentioned and it was easy as well as good. Thanks for a great recipe! It’s a keeper!

  18. where can I find pretzel rolls?

  19. When do I add the sauce? (:

  20. These look awesome. Each component looks great and I love the jalapenos.

  21. Tihis does look really good! But I am perplexed by the type of meat. “Beef chuck roast, shaved”. I have no clue what this is. Would I find this in the deli department and not the meat department? Is it precooked?….. :/

    • Ask the butcher at the meat department to shave the chuck roast. If you tell him you want to make Philly Steak Sandwiches he/she will know just how to slice it. It’s basically very thin!

  22. I only used half if the cream cheese and it was way too much. Made the sandwiches sloppy

  23. When do you add the Worcestershire sauce?

  24. Great idea! love Worcestershire sauce, I would use it on anything :)
